Update on our baby.

Here is an update from the orphanage about baby Jed. Oh how we cling to any tidbit of info about the baby we long to hold in our arms. Enjoy..

J, Our little charmer is doing so well right now! He just gets cuter by the day, and is such a happy and easygoing baby. He rarely cries, unless he’s hungry, stinky, or tired, and will smile and flirt with anyone who stops to say hi. When he does get mad, and has time to wind up, he cries so hard, and sweats so much! If I can’t get to him for a couple of minutes, he’s dripping with sweat by the time I get there! He’s very expressive, both with his facial expressions and with his verbal noises. If he’s laying on the floor with toys he can reach for, he reaches for them and talks to them for a long time! He usually says “daa daa daa”, but seems to be carrying out long conversations with that one syllable! He also likes to blow raspberries, and today I heard him making a grunting noise in his throat while he was talking to himself. And then when you look at him to see what he’s doing, he just grins. J He sucks on the part of his claw that has two little fingers on it. He usually just sucks it when he’s hungry, but he’s starting to use it more just to soothe himself. His thumb on his other hand is also double jointed, and one day recently he sat looking at his thumb for a long time. He kept bending it and making it pop, looking at it like he was inspecting it! It was so cute. He’s starting to be so aware of things around him, and is so responsive. He has been spending the days with me at the volunteer house, and then goes back in the nursery to sleep at night. He wasn’t gaining weight very quickly, so we wanted to keep a closer eye on him. He has gained about 1 ½ pounds in the last two weeks, and we’ve had so much fun having him around! Micah and Rose love him, and give him kisses and play with him all the time. His most recent weight is 10 pounds, 9 ounces.

Thank you for my flowers my love.

I am the most fortunate gal in the world to be married to such a thoughtful husband. In the whole lot of, many, many years we have been married he has had fresh flowers on my table every week. Even in the not so prosperous times when we couldn't afford flowers, he would get the $3.99 mix from the grocery store. Wherever they have ever come from they are so priceless because he looks at me with such adoration, kindness, and love in his gorgeous blue eyes. I love this man and what our marriage means. When God is in control, it can only turn out right.

Our #1 son...

Our priceless, fun, loving, gentle, kind, protective,
handsome, large, funny, M. He is more than we could have ever hoped for or even known to pray for.
We are so very blessed to have this young man as the
leader of his younger siblings. M is so wise.. He sat with me the other day and said, "Mom, I think that I will not have any biological kids, because there are so many children in the world that need a loving, Christian home." That just seems so big and mature to me. He always has profound thoughts about God, life, love, our family, etc.. He is so wonderful to have conversations with. I am honored to be M's mom and thank God every day for giving him to me.
This photo is of Miss M's adoption day. October 2nd, 2007. Everyone wore pink.. M is very proud to have a sister. See it in his face?
Love you Boo Bear... =)

Strike 3, we are NOT out..

Hello Dear Readers,

First off let me thank you for your priceless prayers that we truly covet and can see working. XOXO

Things seem to happen in 3's.. First, a few weeks ago, our adoption agency called to say that my fingerprints were misprinted and it would take several months to fix that. Second, the agency called to tell me that I had a child abuse and neglect "major mix up" and that could take many weeks to fix. Finally, the agency called on Friday, and the very sweet gal said, "I don't believe that you would have bad luck Jennifer, but.......". My local police report was sent from the State December 27th and was still not there. Therefore they deemed it "lost in the mail"... YIKES!!! Thankfully, she called the supervisor at the State and she agreed to fax them. WHEW! That is totally because you all are praying for us to get our baby home. Thank you again.. This means that at the same time that our Haiti case manager is having the papers translated, we can send our dossier to the Capitol for authentication. I will send them a photo and note about our sweet J. =) Pray that motivates everyone to move, move, move.. Thanks for reading.. Weekends are tough to wait through. Especially these long ones..

Blessed is true hope and joy, apart from outward circumstances. So, no matter what this journey brings us through, we know it is God's purpose and we are so blessed.

K our #2 son..

K, a decade old. The doctors told me during a routine bloodtest during pregnancy that he would be a Downs Syndrome baby. They said it would be "best" if I aborted and tried again a few months later. Never an option we said and we learned a whole lot about Downs that year in preparation. =)
He was born a healthy 8 lb. bouncing baby boy. A few quirky things about him is that he has always had sensory integration issues with clothing and his personal space. He has amblyopia and is blind on one eye, but what vigor and wit. He is so charming, sharp, and funny. I wouldn't imagine life without our little entertainer. K loves to sing, play the piano, tell jokes, he's a yellow belt in ju jit su and loves to help his grandpa in the winter of his life.
The day we met J on the website, K looked at his photo and wept at the thought that no one would want him. K said, "Get my little brother home"..
I truly cherish the precious things my children say to me.. K came to me a few weeks ago, put his arm around me, and said, "Mom, I want to be one of 20 siblings. I have the happiest life and most wonderful family in the world.", kissed me and bounded off to play. sniff.. sniff..
I love you my sweet K..

Kisses for all the babies..

I love the way that S has always loved his little brother S. S is a great teacher and pal. He asks me every day, "When is baby J coming home?".. I tell him that God will bring him.. That makes us both happy.. J is going to love his big brothers.

What is Faith?

What Is Faith?
"Faith is not a belief
that everything will
turn out to please us;
rather it is the
confidence that no
matter how things
turn out, God will
somehow use the
events in our days
for His glory and for
our good". E. Stanley Jones
Our sweet baby M. What a faith journey she has been. When our S was 17 months old we were visiting with the case worker about wrapping up the adoption of S. Hubby said to him, "If you have a little girl for us, let us know." The case worker said, "I happen to have one right now." and proceeded to tell us about this baby girl who was born with her intestines on the outside, her pyloric valve (a flap in our stomachs) not working, and a very large hole in her heart. Yes, miracle baby and a really great lesson on doctors. I was quite used to boys, but I am so grateful that God decided we need some pink around here in this Happy Home. This is a very triumphant day for M as she learned to walk at 21 months old. After 3 surgeries, two bouts of RSV (a deadly respiratory virus), and pneumonia that had her on a ventilator for 21 days. Thank you God for letting us have her. She is such a joy to us. Love you sweet girl..

This is J's daddy......

What a wonderful day this was. 7-7-07. The day we were remarried (for the 3rd time) (cuz it's fun and we are ga ga in love) and the day our adorable baby J was born. Who knew that as we were sweltering in the 114 degrees (as I was saying, "It's hotter than Haiti out here.") in the drive through chapel, our baby was coming in to the world to belong to us. I am most grateful to be yours as I tell my hubs all the time. I am so thankful to be his wife.

My Hub-a-lubs is the most wonderful, kind, caring, generous, fair, fun, loving, talented, cute man, daddy, son, and friend on Earth. Because God made him especially for me. =)

6 years ago we were hit by a drunk driver that caused my hubby to have a brain sheer. During the following days after this episode 90% of his clients said they couldn't use him in a wheelchair, he was wheelchair bound for the following year, had severe myoclonic episodes (major seizurelike shakes). Then over the years, came to grips with his mortality, learned how much his family loved him, still has to use a wheelchair at theme parks, now will occationally have what we call "the shakies", but was and still is the priceless leader of this household (and this house holds many).. This is one of the many lessons in life that has led us to be able to be confident about our baby J.

Thank you my wonderful hub-a-lubs for being so encouraging through this journey to bring our baby J home and for giving our beautiful family such a happy life. I love you more than anything, so much I could pop.. =)

This is J's daddy and that boy is so furtunate to be on his way to being his..

S and S

Here are my precious sons that make life so fun. S is so smart and happy. We always say, "He started it all.".. Refering to the wonderful world of adoption.
S is learning in leaps and bounds how to communicate and connect with his family. Many people are suprised that he has a diagnosis of Autism. He has us so captivated.
I am extremely blessed to be these babies mommy.. I love you my wonderful sons. XOXOXOXOXO

Prayer Request

Well, it looks like I will be able to send our papers to the capitol for authentication this week. Then the following week the complete dossier (about 100+ pages of our every fiber) will go to the agency in FL. for translation (Haitian-Creole) then to Haiti. Then it's hurry up and wait. Please pray for the Happy Home of the Flynn Family to remember that God's timing is perfect and for the many hands that will touch our paperwork to get it right the first time. =) Thank you dear ones..

Not getting discouraged

Wow, what a week of dissapointments and setbacks. I am told this is very normal and not a big deal. That was encouraging. Long story short, 12 years ago someone stole my identity, commited crimes, had a warrant, when they didn't show up; I was arrested. They figured it out within a day, but there was a record of M (my oldest) being put in Child Haven (our local child protection agency). It doesn't matter that I have adopted 3 children since then, it was discovered for this international adoption. It may hold things up for a few weeks, but it looks like they are going to allow me to send things to be translated. That makes me feel better moving forward while they figure out that it was a mix up.

Remembering that God's timing is perfect, keeping our focus, praying nonstop..
And ladies, hang on to your purse..... =)
